Day 1

Fly to Boston

Arrive in Boston and transfer independently to your hotel. There’s a wide range of hotels to suit most budgets in Boston, so just let us know the type of hotel you’re looking for.

Overnight: The Copley Square

Day 2

A full day to explore the culinary scene in Boston (but we can book you some more nights in this great city if your schedule allows). We suggest starting with a short walk to a great breakfast place such as The Friendly Toast and then continue your stroll through Boston Public Garden to call in at the quirky Gibson House Museum for a shot of culture. Then it’ll be time for pre-lunch drinks at the iconic Cheers bar on Beacon Street. Then to work up an appetite, walk through Boston Common, onto Faneuil Hall to browse the market, then onto North End where there is a great array of eateries for you to enjoy lunch. Local specialities include Boston baked beans, clam chowder, lobster roll and Boston Cream Pie. This afternoon you can either continue your explorations around the waterfront, or hop on the T line to Cambridge & Havard or down to Stony Brook where you will find the Samuel Adams Brewery. One of America’s most famous beers, the brewery is a great place for an afternoon tour followed by a beer flight or two in their Tap Room.

Overnight: The Copley Square

Day 3

Boston – Plymouth - Falmouth (75 miles)

This morning pick up your hire car and drive south to Cape Cod. A great place to break the journey is the historic town of Plymouth where the first Pilgrims settled in 1620, and here you will find the Pilgrim Memorial State Park and Plymouth Rock. For lunch, there’s nice choice of informal eateries around the Town Wharf where you will find seafood shacks and quirky taverns. Just south of Plymouth is Plimoth Plantation – a living history museum where actors bring the Pilgrim era to life. Continue south to Falmouth which is your base for the next two nights.

Overnight: Inn on the Square Falmouth

Day 4

Falmouth – optional day trip to Martha’s Vineyard

Today you can simply enjoy the gorgeous beaches of Falmouth and sample the delicious local cuisine – you’ll be spoilt for choice for restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all tastes. The Cape Cod Winery is located in Falmouth and this is well worth a visit to try out the local wines. Alternatively you can take the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard – if you’re going in high season then we’ll organise this for you (at an extra charge) as you’ll need to pre-book before you arrive. It’s a scenic half hour on the ferry to the island, where you could either hire bikes to explore or simply spend time in the lovely village of Oak Bluffs. Clustered around the harbour there are so many quaint, characterful restaurants it will take you all morning to decide where to have lunch. Spend the afternoon strolling the Circuit, where you will find interesting boutiques and art galleries. There are also several beaches so remember to take your beach gear and have a snooze in the sun before catching the ferry back to Falmouth.

Overnight: Inn on the Square Falmouth

Days 5 to 7

Falmouth – Hyannis (22 miles)

After a leisurely morning, perhaps after a beach walk, make the short drive to Hyannis – one of the seven picturesque villages which make up the town of Barnstaple on the Cape Cod peninsula. We’ve based you here for three nights, as it’s not only a lovely place to stay but also allows you to take a ferry to Nantucket Island or explore more of Cape Cod and perhaps drive up to Provincetown at the very tip of the peninsula.
Downtown Hyannis is a foodies delight, with mouth-watering grills, clam shacks, oyster bars, taverns and cuisines ranging from homespun to Italian to Japanese.
The ferry to Nantucket takes a couple of hours but is well worth the journey as you enjoy the scenery and sea-life en route and then explore this truly charming island. Visit old whaling mansions and historic harbours, browsing quaint boutiques and as ever, sampling the local fayre. Treat yourself to a gourmet lunch in one of the upscale restaurants or simply hop between the seafood shacks and fun taverns.

Overnight: Heritage House Hotel, Hyannis

Day 8
