Day 1

Boston

Arrive into Boston and transfer independently to your hotel, settle in for your overnight stay. The remainder of the day can be spent exploring the historic sights of Boston or heading out for a gentle stroll along the waterfront before meeting with your group and tour guide for a welcome reception in the evening.

Day 2

Boston – Lexington and Concord – Manchester

Start today with a tour of the historic sites in Boston including some along the Freedom Trail, then continue your journey into the area’s historic past with stops at Lexington and Concord where the first battles of the American Revolution where fought. In the afternoon you’ll drive along the Mohawk Trail, an early Native American and colonial trade route, and the first designated scenic drive in New England. Admire the picturesque vistas along the way as you venture towards Manchester.

Day 3

Manchester – Quechee – Burlington

Today sees you make your way to the Green Mountain State of Vermont via the historic woollen mill in Quechee. You’ll be treated to a lunch at the beautiful Simon Pearce glassblowing workshop before learning more about the art of this unique skill, delving into the science behind glassblowing. Then head for your final destination for the day, Burlington for your overnight stay.

Day 4

Burlington – Stowe – White Mountains – North Conway

This morning you will travel as a group to visit Lake Champlain Chocolates for local artisan ice-cream and chocolate. Afterward we head to the forests of Vermont on your way to Stowe, a popular winter ski destination, a gorgeous backdrop of red and orange colours. Then you'll head to the Raven Wildlife Program where a local specialist will speak about the local wildlife, ecolodge and even science of the famous colours of the fall foliage.

Day 5

Kancamagus Highway

In the morning, take to one of the most beautiful and well-known foliage destinations in New England – the Kancamagus Highway. Known to locals as ‘The Kanc’, this area offers scenic views for miles and this morning will be dedicated to seeking out the best spots for incredible views of the renowned autumn foliage. The afternoon is free to do as you wish, perhaps taking a walk through the town or a chance to admire more of the scenic vistas.

Day 6

North Conway – Bar Harbour

Depart from the White Mountains and make your way into Maine’s pine forests and onwards to Bar Harbour on Mount Desert Island. In the evening you’ll join your group for a traditional lobster dinner and learn more about the process of lobster fishing from a local fisherman.

Overnight: Bar Harbour Regency or similar. Breakfast and dinner included

Day 7

Acadia National Park

This morning sees you visit Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, one of the best spots for seeing the sunrise in America. While you won’t have to get up that early today, you will be given plenty of time to admire the breath-taking views from the top of the peak. Descend from the mountain to explore the natural attractions of the park, from the granite cliffs to the windswept beaches and autumnal colours from ancient maples. Back in Bar Harbour, you’ll have time to yourself to explore the area and enjoy a coffee in one of the charming cafés along the coast.

Day 8

Bar Harbour – Maine Coast – Portsmouth

Take a coastal excursion today along Maine’s coast with a journey along Highway 1 past the fisheries of the seaside towns where you will also make a stop at the iconic Nubble Lighthouse. You’ll journey south towards Portsmouth for your overnight stay this evening, a distinctive location which sits on the Piscataqua River. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group to commemorate your trip.

Day 9

Portsmouth – Boston

Take your transfer back to Boston Logan International Airport for your departing flight home.
