A popular stop with fantastic shopping, dining and relaxing

Charlotte is often included in popular self-drive tours of the North Carolina area, and we think, justly so.

Rather than just using it as a stop-over, consider staying a few days to explore the city and enjoy what it has to offer. Many of the major tourist attractions in Charlotte are centred around Tyron Street, including larger shopping malls, restaurants, a number of excellent museums and a vibrant music scene.

Charlotte is the home to the Bank of America Stadium which hosts many major sporting events and concerts – check what’s playing with your concierge.  Charlotte's Carolina Raptor Centre is a popular birds of prey centre, with regular displays and talks. Or visit the Lowe's Motor Speedway - a major racing track, with many exciting races throughout the year. The Charlotte theme park is Paramount's Carowinds, which includes rollercoasters, fast rides and sideshows.

The area has countless parklands and gardens, such as McGill Rose Garden, Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens and the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens; combine a visit with a look around Charlotte’s historical buildings including Hezekiah Alexander Homesite - a small stone house dating back to 1774, now America's oldest dwelling
