Overview
The only Relais & Chateau boutique hotel in New York, the Surrey offers a calm, luxurious haven in amidst the buzz of Manhattan. It was built in 1925 as a residence hotel and was home to a host of celebrities including JFK and Bette Davis, who revelled in its opulent charms and discreet service.
The Surrey is located on the Upper East Side, steps from Central Park and Fifth Avenue, minutes from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum, and surrounded by renowned cafes and restaurants.
Within the hotel there is also the highly regarded, Michelin-starred Café Boulud. Chef Daniel Boulud presents a unique twist on French cuisine, celebrating New Yorks café society. Here too is Bar Pleiades, with décor inspired by Coco Chanel, it combines the attentive service of an elegant hotel bar with the enticing cocktails of an inspired mixologist. And finally, such a hotel would not be complete without a chic rooftop bar, and the 17th floor Private Roof Garden is open solely to hotel guests.
