Grand Canyon, Monument Valley & Utah Under Canvas Adventure

8 nights from €1,879 per person Including Flights

Overview

What an adventure - glamping under canvas in three amazing locations! Begin, where else, by the magnificent Grand Canyon, before moving on to dramatic Monument Valley with it’s towering stone pillars. You’ll then stay under canvas in Moab to explore the national parks of Canyonlands and Arches. Your final glamping spot is the spectacular Zion National Park, where you will marvel at the steep canyons and lush valley with the Virgin River running through it.

This glamping experience is brought to you by “Under Canvas” in the Grand Canyon, Moab and Zion, where you will enjoy the vast starry night skies from a luxurious private tent with comfy beds and a wood-burning stove. These campsites have been designed to have a minimum impact on the environment with pull-chain showers & low-flush loos, compostable & sustainable materials used throughout and solar power where possible. There are various styles of tent and you can add an adjacent tepee for the children. Safari tents have use of a communal bathroom, or you can upgrade to a Deluxe tent with en suite bathroom and private wooden decking or Stargazer tent with the same plus a star-gazing window.

We can tailormake this holiday to suit you, perhaps adding another stop in a hotel near Bryce Canyon or adding on extra nights in Vegas for some fun.

Day 1

Fly to Las Vegas

Arrive into Las Vegas. Depending on your arrival time you could pick up your hire car and head out into Arizona – Kingman is less than two hours drive located on historic Route 66. Alternatively if you want a fun night out in Vegas then we suggest you pick up a taxi at the airport for the 10 minute transfer to one of the hotels close by on the Strip such as the Luxor and then pick up your hire car in the morning.

Overnight: Luxor Resort Vegas or Best Western Plus King’s Inn Kingman

Days 2 to 3

Las Vegas – Grand Canyon (251 miles)

Start big and head to the Grand Canyon. We suggest you head to the Visitor Centre to get some pointers as to the best places to view this incredible place. There are some well marked hiking trails particularly around the South Rim – just make sure that you dress appropriately for the weather!

You’ll be staying for two nights at the unique Under Canvas Grand Canyon, located in 160 acres of forest, 25 minutes from the South Rim Entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park.

Overnight: Under Canvas Grand Canyon Safari tent, or upgrade to Deluxe or Stagazer

Day 4

Grand Canyon – Monument Valley (282 miles)

It’s about a three to four hour drive north to the Utah border and the dramatic landscape of Monument Valley where you will find the iconic sandstone pillars which provided the backdrop to many Westerns. We’ve included one night here, but if time permits then it would be worth adding an additional night as there are some great fun activities to book in the area such as a 4x4 tour of Monument Valley.

Overnight: Desert Rose Resort & Cabins

Day 5

Monument Valley – National Bridges - Moab (186 miles)

Head north for 60 miles to the Natural Bridges National Monument. Drop in at  the Visitor Centre for a map and information and then drive the loop with stopping at the beautiful natural bridges for a walk. Continue onto Moab – gateway to the Canyonlands and Arches National Parks – which will be your base for the next two nights. Under Canvas Moab is located 7 miles north of Moab, close to Arches National Park

Overnight: Under Canvas Moab Safari tent, or upgrade to Deluxe or Stagazer

Day 6

Canyonlands and Arches National Parks

A full day to explore this gorgeous region and it’s two amazing national parks – Canyonlands and Arches. The national parks are fantastic for hiking and have well-marked trails which vary in difficulty – there are lovely short strolls to various beauty spots and vantage points ranging through to medium rated walks for an hour or two ranging up to full-on day-long hikes. You can find details either at the national park visitor centres or on their website. In Moab there are also lots of places for you to hire bikes, book a kayaking tour or a white-water rafting trip.

Day 7

Moab – Zion National Park (325 miles)

You have your longest drive today but there are some great places to stop en route such as the Fishlake National Forest and Dixie National Forest. You could also break this journey up with an overnight stay allowing you to visit another national park such as Capitol Reef or Bryce Canyon. Otherwise head straight for Under Canvas Zion which is set in 196 acres of remote desert terrain, 20 miles from the entrance of Zion National Park, surrounded by views of soaring sandstone cliffs and majestic red rock. We’ve included two nights here on this itinerary, but we can change the duration to suit you.

Overnight: Under Canvas Zion Safari tent, or upgrade to Deluxe or Stagazer

Day 8

Zion National Park

A day to explore the splendour of Zion which you can do from the park shuttle bus which drives a three hour loop around the park. Drive to the Visitor Centre and pick up the shuttle, then you can simply get off and on the bus wherever you want to pick up one of the hiking trails. Emerald Pools trail starts at shuttle stop number 5 and there are varying lengths of trail depending on your energy. Canyon Overlook is a nice easy one mile round trip which gives you great vantage point for the expanse of Zion Canyon.

Day 9

Zion – Las Vegas International Airport (165 miles) – Fly home

It will take you around three hours to drive back to Las Vegas airport so depending on the time of your flight home, you might want to stop off in the Valley of Fire State Park with its petrified wood and sandstone formations. Then drop off your hire car and fly home.

  • International flights
  • 8 nights accommodation as described above or similar
  • Car hire with fully comprehensive insurance

What’s Not Included
