Quaint book shops, vast shopping complexes and creative spaces where you can pick up art and vintage clothes – Washington D.C. has it all. There are some really great shops here, particularly up in Adams Morgan, Georgetown, U Street and Friendship Heights. Wisconsin Avenue is the best spot for designer boutiques.

Art and Theatre

The Penn Quarter is a hub of theatre and art, so head here if you’re in the mood for culture. In particular, the Bohemian Caverns, Blues Alley and the 9.30 Club are all must-visit spots.
