Attractions in Washington DC

White House

Any visit to D.C. without stopping by the White House is incomplete – this world-renowned building is an absolute must-see. Though the outside remains much the same, the interior is a collection of amendments and edits made by each of its guests. Self-guided tours can take place but require a lot of forward planning, with bookings taking place up to six months in advance!

National Zoo

The National Zoo calls itself home to over 400 species of animals, including the giant panda couple – Mei Xiang and Tian Tian – elephants, lions and orangutans. This is a great day out that the whole family can enjoy – a prestigious site in the city.

Capitol Building

A building steeped in history and political change, the Capitol Building is where Congress has met since the 1800s to write the country’s laws. But the building itself also has some quirky features, from a crypt to its own subway, and a 19.5ft statue which sits on the dome which weighs in at 15,000 pounds!

The Mall

A National Park with a high concentration of monuments, museums and buildings, The Mall is a sightseeing wonderland. But don’t be fooled – the size of this area is bigger than it first seems, so you might want to work out which sights you want to see and base your activities each day around these to make it easier.
