All ages will enjoy this New England holiday, contrasting the outdoor activities of Vermont’s Green Mountains and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, with the traditional pleasures of the seaside resorts of Cape Cod and the opportunity to go whale watching.

We have specially created this tour for families, with carefully chosen hotels for children of all ages and longer stays in each of the destinations so you don’t spend all of your time checking in and out of hotels. The pricing is based on two adults and two children with an SUV vehicle, but we can adapt your holiday for any combination of adults and children, and add hotels at the beginning or end of this tour if you would like to extend your holiday.

  • Begin your family adventure with a couple of nights in the friendly and fun city of Boston
  • In the Green Mountains of Vermont you can choose from kayaking, rafting, hiking or simply enjoying the stunning scenery around Stowe
  • With a three-night stay in the lovely mountain resort of Jackson, you will be able to enjoy a fabulous range of activities, from zip-lining to moose safaris, from hiking and swimming by beautiful waterfalls
  • Relax on the beaches surrounding the quaint coastal town of Kennebunkport, or go out on a lobster boat
  • End your holiday with a few days in Cape Cod to enjoy the beaches and attractions this popular seaside destination, perhaps taking the opportunity to go whale-watching

The tour pricing is based on two adults and two children travelling together and Includes SUV Car Rental

Day 1

Fly to Boston

Arrive at Boston Logan International Airport where you can either pick up your car or take a taxi and make the short drive to your hotel in Beacon Hill.

Overnight: Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill (prices are based on a family of four sharing a Deluxe Room, but two or more rooms are available at a supplement)

Day 2

A day to explore this appealing city, perhaps visiting the international Children’s Museum or the fascinating Museum of Science. A popular attraction is the USS Constitution – the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy, built in 1797 – where you can explore below decks and see the sailor’s quarters. History buffs should walk the Freedom Trail, following the red line on the sidewalk for two and a half miles through the sites of the American Revolution. For those who enjoy retail therapy, the shopping is excellent around Quincy Market and near your hotel in Beacon Hill. And the waterfront is a lovely place for a wander and bite to eat.

Overnight: Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill

Day 3

Boston – Stowe (202 miles)

Today you’ll leave Boston and drive north into Vermont (picking up your hire car if you chose not to do this at the airport on arrival) to the very pleasant mountain resort of Stowe. You will be spending the next three nights at the Topnotch Resort and Spa. This popular resort hotel has an indoor swimming pool, as well as two outdoor pools and hot tubs, tennis academy, spa, informal restaurant and bar.

Overnight: Topnotch Resort & Spa

Day 4

Today you can take time to relax around the resort, admiring the beautiful views from the swimming pool, taking a tennis lesson at the academy (extra charge) or hiring a bike to explore the area. Later in the day perhaps take an outing to the world-famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory in nearby Waterbury.

Overnight: Topnotch Resort & Spa

Day 5

You can choose to hike or bike around the many beauty spots of the area, such as Smugglers Notch National Park, Wiessner Woods or Sterling Falls Gorge. Another local attraction is the historical tour of the Trapp Family Lodge, built by the real-life Von Trapp family after they left Austria, now run by the grandson of Maria and the Captain. The town of Stowe is a charming place to wander, with a variety of speciality shops and craft stores, and perhaps pause for a taste of the locally produced non-alcoholic cider.

Overnight: Topnotch Resort & Spa

Day 6

Stowe – Jackson (118 miles)

Today you’ll head eastbound for the White Mountains, to the lovely mountain resort of Jackson. You’ll be staying for three nights in a Barn Family Studio at the cosy Christmas Farm Inn & Spa. Here you will have time to enjoy the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, jacuzzi, playground, fitness room and spa.

Overnight: Christmas Farm Inn & Spa

Day 7

You’ll be spoilt for choice for activities in and around Jackson. Simply take a picnic to the nearby waterfall and enjoy a dip. Head upwards on the Loon Mountain Skyride and Cannon Mountain Aerial Tram, or downwards into the Polar Caves Park and Flume Gorge.

Overnight: Christmas Farm Inn & Spa

Day 8

Another day to enjoy all that the White Mountains have to offer. The wildlife enthusiasts can go moose spotting on a tour, as well as seeing bald-eagles and osprey. Keen golfers can enjoy a round on one of several courses in the area such as the Eagle Mountain Golf Club. The adrenalin junkies can go zip-lining through the canopy of trees. Those who want to enjoy the scenery at a more leisurely pace could take the Mount Washington cog railway.

Overnight: Christmas Farm Inn & Spa

Day 9

Jackson – Kennebunkport (79 miles)

Today you’ll be heading to the seaside, and the quaint coastal town of Kennebunkport in Maine. After checking in to the Nonantum Resort, you can enjoy the comfort and facilities of this family-run hotel. Located right on the Kennebunk River, it is an easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Dock Square. There is something for all the family here, with activities ranging from guided kayak excursions to waterfront yoga and from face-painting lessons to family movie nights.

Today is the day to try out Stand Up Paddle Boarding or learn how to haul your own lobster aboard the Rugosa. You can rent a couple of tandem kayaks or take a more leisurely sail in The Pineapple Ketch along the coast.

 Overnight: Nonantum Resort

Day 11

Kennebunkport - Cape Cod (82 miles)

Drive south to the Cape Cod peninsula, with its beautiful beaches, glorious dunes and quaint harbours. The last two nights of your holiday will be spent at the family resort hotel Cape Codder near Hyannis. Have fun in the indoor Wave Pool, lounge around the heated outdoor pool, be pampered in the Beach Plum Spa and the children can enjoy face painting, a reptile show and full schedule of activities.

Overnight: Cape Codder Resort & Spa (prices are based on a family of four sharing a Deluxe Room, but two or more rooms are available at a supplement)

Day 12

Cape Cod

A final day to enjoy this family resort or perhaps an opportunity to go on a whale watcher cruise. If your children are younger then you may prefer to go on a Pirate Adventure from Hyannis harbour or join a Bog Bus Tour to enjoy the animals and cranberry farm.
