Eating and Drinking in Alaska

Alaskans are passionate about good food; not surprising given the wealth of fresh produce grown and sourced here. In particular is the wide variety of fresh seafood available to people living in Alaska, from wild salmon to gargantuan crabs and halibut. Eating out here isn’t cheap due to the fact that it costs so much to transport goods into Alaska, but the best way to get the most for your money is to sample the best of the local fare. Try reindeer sausage with eggs for breakfast or indigenous foods such as spruce syrup.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Alaska, even if you go by the size of the destination alone. Beer, in particular, is taken seriously here with Anchorage alone being home to seven breweries! If you’re keen on sampling something truly Alaskan, a locally-produced beer is the way to go.
