Day 2

Los Angeles – Sequoia and Kings National Parks

Head northwards through the Los Padres National Forest and the verdant San Jaoquin Valley. Join the Majestic Mountain Loop, linking Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Parks. Head up into the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains towards Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, where nearly half of the remaining sequoias in the world live in a protected state. Stop at the Kings Canyon Visitors Center and enjoy a short movie presentation on the history of the park, inside a replica of a burned out giant sequoia tree. Take the short hike to the General Grant Tree, the second largest tree in the world. Arrive at Wuksachi Lodge, a beautiful property crafted from stone and cedar, which offers wonderful views of the forest and Sierra Nevada peaks. After dinner immerse yourself in a star-gazing programme as a local specialist guides you through the night sky

Overnight: Wuksachi Lodge or similar (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 3

Sequoia National Park

Explore the “Land of Giants”, the stunning redwood trees of the Sequoia National Park, with a stroll along the General Sherman Tree Loop trail. This ends at the base of the General Sherman tree – the worlds largest living thing, estimated to be over 2,200 years old. Learn about the history and ecology of the sequoias at the Giant Forest Museum. You will have the opportunity to walk the Big Trees Trail or use the complimentary shuttle system to explore the park on your own. And you can climb up Moro Rock, a massive granite formation in the centre of the park. Lunch today is an alfresco all-you-can-eat barbecue in beautiful Wolverton Meadow whilst a living-history re-enactor tells stories of early life in the mountains. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace.

Overnight: Wuksachi Lodge (Breakfast and lunch included)

Day 4

Sequoia National Park – Kings Canyon National Park – Yosemite National Park

Continue along the Majestic Mountain Loop, winding through the groves of majestic sequoias. Stop at Kings Canyon Lookout for a panoramic view of the canyon. Then later you’ll arrive at Yosemite National Park and will stop at one of the most photographed vistas in the world – a panoramic view of Yosemite Valley including El Capitan, Half Dome, Sentinel Rock, Cathedral Rocks and Bridal Vell Falls. Tonight you will stay at a lodge located inside the park, giving you more time to enjoy Yosemite when the other visitors have left for the day.

Day 5

Yosemite National Park – Mammoth Lakes

This morning you will discover the natural wonders of Yosemite National Park aboard a special open-air vehicle. Ride up the Scenic Gondola to the top of Mammoth Mountain, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Next you’ll visit Devils Postpile National Historic Monument, resembling a tidy 60 foot tall lumber pile created by giants. Continue on a short trail down to the beautiful Rainbow Falls.
