Southern Charms and the Great SmokiesStart this tour of the south in Memphis, the home of the blues, with a trip to Elvis Presley's Gracelands and the Rock 'n' Soul Museum, before heading to Nashville, the country and western capital to see the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. The tour then moves on to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most popular national park in the States, for a stay at Gatlinburg, the gateway to the Great Smokies. End your southern journey in Georgia's capital, Atlanta.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - MEMPHIS
Arrive in Memphis, the 'Home of the Blues', and join your tour director and fellow travellers at the WELCOME RECEPTION, where you will be briefed on your upcoming tour around America's south. (WR)
DAY 2 - MEMPHIS
Start the day with a guided tour of Memphis and a visit to Elvis Presley's mansion GRACELAND, where you will even be able to board his private jet. The rest of the day is free and you could visit the National Civil Rights Museum, situated where Dr Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated in 1968. (B,D)
DAY 3 - MEMPHIS
Take a tour of the ROCK 'N' SOUL MUSEUM to find out all about Memphis' musical and cultural past, then continue onto SUN STUDIOS, the original recording studio where musicians like BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Howlin' Wolf, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins made groundbreaking recordings. In the evening you could head to Beale Street to take in some live entertainment at one of the city's celebrated blues clubs. (B)
DAY 4 - MEMPHIS - NASHVILLE
Move onto another musical city, Nashville, the home of country and western music, where you will be treated to an insider's view of the city with an expert local guide. You have reserved seats tonight for a show at the world famous GRAND OLE OPRY, legendary showcase for countless country musicians over the years. (B) SPECIAL FEATURE: Your accommodation is in Opryland, which features nine acres of indoor gardens, waterfalls and winding pathways, plus some 30 speciality shops, a choice of restaurants, and a spa centre. Experience southern hospitality at its best.
DAY 5 - NASHVILLE
Visit the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME, with its huge collection of memorabilia, instruments, stage costumes and photographs, along with Elvis Presley's sold gold Cadillac. You will also visit RCA STUDIO B where Elvis once recorded, and you will have the chance to cut your own record to take home. The rest of the day is free and in the evening you can join the optional excursion to Nashville Nightlife to enjoy dinner accompanied by live country music. (B)
DAY 6 - NASHVILLE - SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK - GATLINBURG
Leave the city to journey along the Newfound Gap Road through the GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK, the most visited national park in America. Pass Clingmans Dome, the park's highest point, and see the blue haze the surrounds the mountains and after which the park is named. Arrive in Gatlinburg at the foot of the mountains to enjoy a city tour and a two night stay at the gateway to the Great Smokies. (B,D)
DAY 7 - GATLINBURG. EXCURSION TO DOLLYWOOD
Spend a day at DOLLYWOOD, the 88-acre theme park inspired by country legend Dolly Parton, with a stop on the way at Pigeon Forge to shop for pottery and local crafts. There is an optional evening excursion to the Dixie Stampede, with an action-packed show and southern country cooking. (B)
DAY 8 - GATLINBURG - ATLANTA
From Gatlinburg and the Great Smokies head on southwards to Atlanta, the capital of Georgia. Take a city tour of the downtown and elegant residential districts, taking in Peachtree Plaza, the Governor's Mansiton, the Olympic Village and the CNN Headquarters. Join your travelling companions and tour director for a GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER in the evening to celebrate the end of a great tour. (B,D)
DAY 9 - ATLANTA
The tour comes to an end this morning, and airport transfers are included. (B)
