Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - ARRIVE NEW YORK.
Welcome to the Big Apple! Use you complimentary transfer to your hotel where our Tour Director will welcome you and answer your questions. We hope you can join us at 6 p.m. for a Welcome Reception in the Sheraton Manhattan at Times Square.
DAY 2 - NEW YORK SIGHTSEEING.
Your morning guided tour of New York City includes Times Square, Central Park, the Financial and Broadway Districts and Battery Park. Then we ride to the top of Rockefeller Center to the “Top of The Rock Observation Deck” for breathtaking views of the city. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free for you to do whatever you please: visit a museum, see a Broadway show or take the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.
DAY 3 - NEW YORK - WASHINGTON DC.
We stop off briefly at Baltimore on Chesapeake Bay and visit the bustling Inner Harbor, then journey on to the nation’s capital, Washington DC. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and later perhaps take an optional Illumination Tour to see the Capitol, White House and Jefferson Memorial, the FDR Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorial bathed in light. We check into the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel for our overnight stay.
DAY 4 - WASHINGTON DC & AREA SIGHTSEEING.
We visit Arlington National Cemetery and learn about the final resting place of many American heroes on the narrated Tourmobile, then it’s on to the beautiful Mount Vernon Estate to see the home and gardens of the first United States president, George Washington. We visit the quaint seaport town of Old Town Alexandria with its beautiful brick-lined streets, elegant Federal homes and cobblestone alleyways, return to Washington mid-afternoon to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 5 - WASHINGTON - LANCASTER.
See Gettysburg National Military Park, site of the Civil War battle of 1863, with a local guide, then we journey to Lancaster County, land of the Amish people. In the evening, discover the Amish way of life at an Amish Wedding Celebration. Join a local expert and learn about Amish courtship, wedding customs and traditions, and attend a re-enacted wedding ceremony followed by a sumptuous Amish wedding feast before moving on to our hotel, the Lancaster Arts Hotel.
DAY 6 - LANCASTER - PHILADELPHIA.
Philadelphia: the “City of Brotherly Love,” and the nation’s first capital that spawned the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. Explore Independence National Historic Park on an expertly guided tour and after viewing the Liberty Bell, the rest of the day is yours before checking into the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel.
DAY 7 - PHILADELPHIA - NEWPORT.
We travel along the Long Island Sound experiencing the beauty of the New England coast. At Mystic Seaport, you walk through a recreated 19th century coastal village and climb aboard historic tall ships. We continue to historic Newport and in the evening you can enjoy a choice of excellent restaurants before retiring to the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina.
DAY 8 - CAPE COD EXCURSION.
Spend the day exploring Cape Cod, starting with a visit to the Heritage Museum & Gardens in Sandwich. Next stop is Hyannis, where you board an historic steamer for a cruise on Hyannis Harbor with spectacular views of the shoreline and the Kennedy family summer compound in Hyannisport.
Back on land, we continue to Cape Cod National Seashore for an interpretive walk past sandy beaches, ponds and dunes. We return to Newport along the scenic Old King’s Highway for an evening at leisure.
DAY 9 - NEWPORT - BOSTON.
We enjoy a guided tour of “The Breakers”, the extravagant summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II, and then travel to Boston, one of America’s oldest and most historic cities. An afternoon sightseeing tour features famous sights along the Freedom Trail: Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, Old State House, Paul Revere’s House and the USS Constitution. In the evening join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant before spending you final night in the Omni Parker House hotel.
DAY 10 - DEPART BOSTON.
Your tour comes to an end with a complimentary transfer to Boston International Airport.
