This tour of the American south west's unique landscape features visits to the majestic Grand Canyon and the instantly-recognisable formations of Monument Valley before heading for a cruise on Lake Powell and an overnight lakeside stop. Head on to explore the colourful rock formations in the Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce and Zion National Parks. Stunning views and breathtaking scenery are the hallmarks of this unforgettable journey around the region's natural wonders. End the tour in glittering Las Vegas with a stay at Treasure Island resort on the city's famous Strip.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - LAS VEGAS

Arrive in Las Vegas, glittering entertainment destination in the heart of Nevada. Meet your tour director and travelling companions at this evening's WELCOME RECEPTION. (WR)

DAY 2 - LAS VEGAS-GRAND CANYON

After the bright lights of Las Vegas the tour strikes out across the Mohave desert and through Williams on Route 66 and through the Kaibab National Forest to approach the GRAND CANYON. There will be plenty of time to walk along the canyon's rim and marvel at the extraordinary vistas. You could also join a ranger-led tour. A visit to the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC IMAX THEATER is included, for a special view of the world famous natural wonder. (B,D)

DAY 3 - GRAND CANYON-LAKE POWELL

Take an optional helicopter trip above and into the canyon itself, looking down to the Colorado River snaking its way far below, for an unforgettable experience. In the late morning the tour moves on, heading north to the shores of Lake Powell, a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River, spanning the border between Arizona and Utah. Board a CRUISE on the lake to see the steep surrounding canyon walls. Staying at the Lake Powell Resort, you will enjoy panoramic views across the lake. (B,D)

DAY 4 - LAKE POWELL

Choose your experience today - either join a tranquil RAFTING TRIP to Glen Canyon to learn about the region's geology, ecology and history, or take a narrated FLIGHTSEEING journey above Lake Powell and the Rainbow Bridge. The rest of the day is to free to relax at the resort or explore the lakeside. (B)

DAY 5 - LAKE POWELL-MONUMENT VALLEY

Move on through Navajo country and into the heart of Monument Valley, with its instantly-recognisable red rock mesas and buttes, made famous for dozens of western films. You will stay in secluded Goulding's Lodge, where many movie stars and film crew have stayed during filming. You can look round Goulding's Musuem and Trading Post, which houses a great variety of Indian artefacts and movie memorabilia, or perhaps take a dip in the pool. This evening you will be treated to a WESTERN BARBEQUE COOKOUT. (B,D)

DAY 6 - MONUMENT VALLEY-MOAB

Get up early to join a Navajo guide for a 4WD tour of Monument Valley, getting up close to the eroded sandstone monoliths that dot the area. Later the tour moves northwards for a two night stay on the Colorado River in the resort of Moab, surrounded by canyon walls. (B,D)

DAY 7 - MOAB. ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

In the morning visit ARCHES NATIONAL PARK, where more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches and unusual rock formations are found, including the much-photographed Delicate Arch and many other fascinating locations. You'll also drive to CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK, where more magnificent formations can be seen, eroded over millenia into extraordinary shapes that catch the changing light. Spend the rest of the day in Moab, maybe hiking or going wine tasting, or enjoying a massage or a game of tennis at the resort. (B)

DAY 8 - MOAB-BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK is your next stop, another area of fantastically-shaped rocks, many eroded into pinnacles and spires known as 'hoodoos', that change colour with the changing light during the day. There are many trails for you to immerse yourself among the park's natural beauty. Your accommodation is also within the park at Bryce Canyon Lodge. (B,D)

DAY 9 - BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK-ZION NATIONAL PARK

Move on to ZION NATIONAL PARK, whose jutting multi-hued rocks reminded early settlers of cathedrals and temples. Your lodge is at Zion's canyon floor, from which you can see the park's impressive sandstone walls. (B,D)

DAY 10 - ZION NATIONAL PARK-LAS VEGAS

Head back to Las Vegas, stopping in Saint George on the way to see one of Utah's first Mormon temples. In Vegas you will check into the Treasure Island resort in the heart of the city's famous Strip. Tonight your tour director will host a GLOBUS FAREWELL CLEBRATION DINNER. (B,D)

DAY 11 - LAS VEGAS

The tour comes to an end today with included transfers to the airport to catch your return flight. (B)
