Scottsdale, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Zion National Park, Las Vegas

Travel north from sunny Scottsdale through Arizona to the Grand Canyon and the unmistakeable rock formations of Monument Valley. Meet local Navajos at a traditional cookout, and head westwards for a cruise on Lake Powell before entering the remarkable Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks of Utah, where the multi-hued rocks have been weathered into incredible spires and pinnacles. The tour then leaves the canyons for a stay in Las Vegas, the 'entertainment capital of the world'.

Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - SCOTTSDALE

Start your tour in Scottsdale, Arizona, sister city to Phoenix and home to a thriving artistic community. Meet your tour director and fellow travellers at an evening Wecome Reception dinner, and find out all about your forthcoming trip. (WR)

DAY 2 - SCOTTSDALE - SEDONA - GRAND CANYON

Leave Scottsdale to travel north through cactus-dotted desert scenery to Sedona, which is backed by the Red Rocks of Sedona. These huge sandstone formations catch the light spectacularly, and have names like Snoopy, Coffeepot Rock, Courthouse Butte and the Cow Pies. Continue onwards through the multi-hued cliffs and sandstone spires of Oak Creek Canyon on the way to arrive at the GRAND CANYON in the afernoon, in plenty of time to catch a spectacular sunset. DAY 3 - GRAND CANYON - MONUMENT VALLEY

Sunrise at the Grand Canyon is just as impressive as sunset, and after breakfast you have the opportunity to take an optional flighseeing trip over the canyon, which is highly recommended. Leave the Grand Canyon via Desert View Point, catching some more panoramic vistas, before entering the MONUMENT VALLEY NAVAJO TRIBAL PARK, home to 30,000 acres of stunning rock formations. You will stay at Goulding's Lodge in the heart of the park, a spot where Hollywood stars and directors stayed during the making of westerns like Stagecoach, Fort Apache and The Harvey Girls. Enjoy a NAVAJO COOKOUT in the evening, accompanied by entertainment performed by local Navajos. (B,D)

DAY 4 - MONUMENT VALLEY - LAKE POWELL

Take a morning FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE TOUR of Monument Valley with an expert Navajo guide. Discover the valley's mesas, buttes and monolithic rocks, instantly recognisable from countless westerns. Drive on westwards to Lake Powell, whose waters lap against sheer red-rock canyon walls and sandy beaches. Appreciate this huge man-made lake on an afternoon CRUISE, getting up close to the vast Glen Canyon Dam and Antelope Canyon with its 'tapestry walls'. Afterwards there will be free time to walk along Waheap Marina. (B,D)

DAY 5 - LAKE POWELL

A free day, where you can join the optional excursion down the Colorado River through the towering red rock walls of Glen Canyon, or take a flightseeing trip over Lake Powell, for a bird's eye view of spots like the Glen Canyon Dam and Rainbow Bridge. (B)

DAY 6 - LAKE POWELL - BRYCE CANYON - ZION NATIONAL PARK

Leave Lake Powell and journey to BRYCE CANYON in Utah. Drive through this national park with plenty of photo stops along the way to capture the thousands of bright yellow, red and pink 'hoodoos' - fantastically eroded rock pillars, spires and arches. The tour then takes you to the nearby ZION NATIONAL PARK, which also contains otherworldly rock formations, whose colours change with the light and the season. It resembled natural temples and cathedrals to the region's Mormon pioneers, who named it 'Little Zion'. (B,D)

DAY 7 - ZION NATIONAL PARK - LAS VEGAS

Time in the morning to experience more of Zion Canyon before continuing to Las Vegas for an afternoon orientation tour. You will be staying in a resort hotel on the city's famous 'Strip', where glittering casinos rub shoulders with theme parks and huge concert venues, with a monorail linking many of the major locations. Join your tour director and fellow guests for the GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER to celebrate a truly memorable holiday. (B,D)

DAY 8 - LAS VEGAS

The tour ends after breakfast, with airport transfers included. (B)
