Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 - ARRIVE SALT LAKE CITY.

Welcome to Salt Lake City. After your complimentary transfer to the Salt Lake City Marriott hotel in the city centre, meet your Tour Director and later that evening join us for a Welcome Reception.

DAY 2 - SALT LAKE CITY - JACKSON.

After a brief tour of Salt Lake City we head into Wyoming, crossing the Oregon Trail, and climb into the Teton Mountains before arriving in the old western town of Jackson. For dinner, choose from a selection of excellent local restaurants before we overnight in the Rustic Inn hotel (B,DA).

DAY 3 - JACKSON - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK.

After spending some time in Grand Teton National Park, we stop at Jenny Lake to take in the tremendous views. Then it’s on to the renowned Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was the very first national park and features unique geological landmarks like Old Faithful set in spectacular scenery. Our hotel is the National Park Lodges. (B,D)

DAY 4 - YELLOWSTONE EXCURSION.

Marvel at the forces that shaped our planet. Witness bubbling mudpots and Old Faithful spouting superheated steam over 120ft in the air. Then thrill to the roar of the Lower Yellowstone Falls as they thunder down the steep canyon walls before returning to the National Park Lodges. (B)

DAY 5 - YELLOWSTONE - BILLINGS.

We leave Yellowstone, motoring through the Shoshone Canyon and the Absaroka Rocky Mountains. We stop off in the historic Wild West town of Cody to visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Centre, and then on to the old cattle town of Billings, Montana. Our hotel is the Crowne Plaza Hotel Billings.(B)

DAY 6 - BILLINGS - CUSTER STATE PARK.

See “Custer’s Last Stand” and learn about the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and the history of the Indian Wars. We visit Deadwood and join a narrated tour of this once lawless frontier town, then it’s on to Custer State Park, famous for its beautiful landscapes and wildlife including buffalo, black bears, deer and elk. After dinner, relax on your porch during our stay at the State Game Lodge (B,D)

DAY 7 - BLACK HILLS EXCURSION.

We start the day at the Crazy Horse Memorial, now the world’s largest sculpture, then it’s on to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, where the heads of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt have been carved into the Black Hills. You spend the rest of the day relaxing. (B)

DAY 8 - CUSTER STATE PARK - CHEYENNE.

We drift across the high plains into Wyoming, stopping at Fort Laramie, the famous frontier home of the US Cavalry. Then on to Cheyenne and enjoy an orientation tour before reaching the Little America (B) hotel.

DAY 9 - CHEYENNE - DENVER.

We view the beauty and majesty of Rocky Mountain National Park and explore the beginnings of the great Colorado River (weather permitting). Then it’s the mile-high city of Denver where we view the city highlights on an orientation tour before reaching our hotel. In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner to celebrate what has been a tour of a lifetime in the Sheraton Denver hotel (B,D).

DAY 10 - DEPART DENVER.

Your tour ends with a complimentary transfer to Denver International Airport, and home to Ireland with a hatful of memories.
