Washington DC, Virginia Beach, Outer Banks, Morehead City, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Charleston
Travel down America's historic Atlantic coastline, starting in Washington DC, with tours of the city's instantly recognisable landmarks. Next up you'll drive via Colonial Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. Take a boat tour along the Outer Banks islands, then follow the Hatteras National Seashore to the historic Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras Lighthouses.
Continue onwards to Wilmington and a visit to the World War Two Battleship North Carolina before crossing into South Carolina for a stop at Myrtle Beach and tour of Brookgreen Gardens. Keep on southwards to Georgetown and Charleston, with their lovingly preserved pre-Civil War architecture.

Tour Itinerary
- DAY 1 - ARRIVE WASHINGTON DC
- Start your American holiday in Washington DC, the nation's capital city, and join your tour director and fellow travellers for an evening WELCOME RECEPTION. (WR)
- DAY 2 - WASHINGTON DC
- This morning's SIGHTSEEING TOUR will take in Capitol Hill, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and cross the Potomac River to Arlington National Cemetery to see John F Kennedy's grave. The afternoon is free for you to explore the museums of the Smithsonian Institution or maybe stroll along the National Mall. Dinner is at a local restaurant, after which you will take a TWILIGHT TOUR of the city, seeing many of its highlights. (B,D)
- DAY 3 - WASHINGTON DC-WILLIAMSBURG-VIRGINIA BEACH
- Head for COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG, a 173-acre living history area where costumed re-enactors bring the past to life. Visit the George Wythe House, Governor's Palace and Raleigh Tavern, where American patriots once met to discuss the struggle for independence. The tour then moves on to Virginia Beach on the shores of Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic. (B)
- DAY 4 - VIRGINIA BEACH-OUTER BANKS, NC
- Walk the Virginia Beach boardwalk, or relax on the beach before continuing on south to cross into South Carolina and the Outer Banks region. Visit the WRIGHT BROTHERS NATIONAL MEMORIAL and FORT RALEIGH NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, where British colonists first attempted to settle in America. (B)
- DAY 5 - OUTER BANKS-MOREHEAD CITY, NC
- The Outer Banks are a chain of thin islands stretching into the Atlantic and curving back again towards the mainland, and you will spend the day exploring their scenic shores. Follow Cape Hatteras National Seashore, stopping at Bodie Island Lighthouse and CAPE HATTERAS LIGHTHOUSE, where you can learn about the local ecosystem and historical importance of the lighthouses. Later you will take the ferry back to the Carolina mainland for an overnight stop in Morehead City. (B,D)
- DAY 6 - MOREHEAD CITY-WILMINGTON, NC
- Drive onwards to Wilmington where you will walk the decks of the BATTLESHIP NORTH CAROLINA, which saw fierce combat in the Pacific during World War Two. Enjoy an evening meal at a local restaurant then take a huanting GHOST WALK of Old Wilmington's historic streets. (B,D)
- DAY 7 - WILMINGTON-MYRTLE BEACH, SC. CHOOSE YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Continue into South Carolina to arrive at Myrtle Beach. Head for the sandy beaches, play a round of golf, browse the resort's shops or relax over a cool drink. Tonight you have a GLOBUS PLATINUM EXCLUSIVE, selecting from a variety of live shows, including LEGENDS IN CONCERT or the CAROLINA OPRY. (B,D)
- DAY 8 - MYRTLE BEACH-CHARLESTON
- BROOKGREEN GARDENS is a National Historic Landmark within a old indigo and rice plantation, and your guided tour takes in the world's finest collection of American figurative sculptures in the open air, more than 550 pieces. Move on via Georgetown, settled from the early 1700s, and then tour equally historic Charleston, an Old South city retaining its pre-Civil War architecture, tree-lined streets and southern charm. Tour the city and in the evening join an optional dinner cruise on the Spirit of Carolina. (B)
- DAY 9 - CHARLESTON
- The morning is free to explore more of Charleston independently, with its many parks and gardens, antebellum houses and bustling central Market Square. In the afternoon you will tour the gardens and take a tram ride at MAGNOLIA PLANTATION before a visit to the National Historic Landmark of MIDDLETON PLACE. This preserved 18th century plantation predates the American Revolution and has survived war and even an earthquake. Round off the tour of America's coastal heritage with a GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER at Magnolia Plantation, set on the scenic Ashley River. (B,D)
- DAY 10 - CHARLESTON
- End the tour in Charleston, with airport transfers provided for your onward journey. (B)
